Quotes

Today I found these two quotes quite appropriate and, I guess the word is inspiring, as I wasn't feeling too perky :) Something to help you do whatever it is you're scared of doing:
"It's okay to be afraid and take action anyway. The fear will subside as your mind observes you acting in spite of fear." - Steve Pavlina
And something to make you feel better about possibly making a mistake when you do it:
"A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing." - George Bernard Shaw

Angela Liddon writes a blog Oh She Glows, check it out!

Oh She Glows documents how I got my glow back, after years of deprivation, and discovered that food and exercise could be fun! I hope that I can inspire you to find your inner and outer glow in the process.

Naughty Vegetables

Maybe I have a childish sense of humour but I found these pictures quite funny. I especially like the suggestive parsnip. Have a gander: 10 Naughtiest Vegetables on Earth.

Inspiring people

I didn't really like Katy Perry when she first came out, but she knows not to take herself too seriously and she doesn't in this song from Sesame Street..

Something nice happened

At work today an old man couldn't get his wallet out of his back pocket, he came in walking with two walking sticks (don't ask me how he can drive...) ANYWAY the customer behind him was asked to help him out and he very kindly did so, and made the man feel more comfortable by saying he also has that problem at times and then paid for his stuff and left, a few seconds later the same man returned asking if he needed help getting his wallet back in. I don't know why exactly that made me smile, but just the fact that he left the shop and felt the need to make sure that the man was okay, not just 'oh okay i'll get his wallet out so I can leave'.

Have a nice day :)

People are nice!

Something really lovely happened to me today. A guy at work who I barely even recognise (because he works out of the office) asked me about my trip to Canada. He asked where I'm going and when I said Vancouver he told me about his brother who lives there and told me he would send me his address in case I ever need it and said he could possibly ask about jobs for me! I thought it was super nice, even if he doesn't actually do it it's nice of him to offer :) It was also good because I'm starting to get scared and have a few doubts about going, and he was telling me about how he wanted to go when he was younger but things got in the way and he never did. Guess it's a sign I should go :p

What nice thing has someone done for you today? Your mum made you breakfast? Someone told you your breath stinks? :)

A Personal Achievement

So, I'm having a pretty crappy time at work at the moment, covering for a full time girl while she's away plus dealing with being the new person that doesn't know what's going on! It feels like people throw one thing after another at me and then line up to tell me I did it wrong. But I am proud of myself for sticking at it, and nearly every day (if not more) I complete a task by myself that I couldn't do before or that makes me nervous. I'm doing a good job for someone in my position, and I know I'm doing my best! That's what counts :)

Eye Candy

I was a little bit naughty and took this off Flickr when I don't think I'm supposed to. But it's cute! I linked it if you want to see it full size.

Something nice happened

I got a letter from Care for Wild, as I received an orangutan adoption for my birthday. The letter made me smile because Violet, the orangutan I adopted, is finally ready to be released into the forest :) The adoption updates have now moved on to a new orangutan rescue called Wenda, from the Sumatran Orangutan Conservation Programme. So if you're looking for a gift, adoptions for wild endangered animals where the recipient receives updates on their adopted animals, is an all year round gift! And helps animals :)

Something nice happened

Yesterday I went to my Grandma's funeral and although it was sad, it was nice to see family that I don't very often. The nice thing was when I realised, it's good to spend time with people that make you feel that they'll be there for you, no matter how odd they find you! Especially as everyone has an eccentric aunt or embarrassing friend to entertain you x

Happiness Guide

I thought this was an good link for this blog! It's a post on Think Simple Now called Positive Attitude - 5 Steps to a Happy Life. So no excuses now. It also has a link in there for learning how to love yourself so better get cracking on that :) It's a nice thing to read especially because it explicitly says happiness is a choice, so it's not that some people just are and some aren't!
